Driven by his passion for the jewelry industry, Al took it upon himself to establish a destination in La Crosse where customers could discover exquisite custom jewelry. This endeavor began in 1995. With the inclusion of Brenda, who became a part of the team in 2000, the jewelry designing duo possess a wealth of experience spanning over 80 years, which they are eager to share with their valued customers.

With extensive experience in the jewelry business in Rochester, MN, Brenda brought a unique and personalized approach to the industry that is hard to replicate. Brenda creates an atmosphere that prioritizes customer satisfaction over immediate profits, enabling customers to feel at ease and discover the jewelry that truly speaks to them.

Driven by a passion for La Crosse's rich history and a vision to revitalize the city, Al and Brenda have undertaken numerous efforts to restore the Designing Jewelers building to its former grandeur. In 2008, the building underwent a significant remodel. Through extensive renovations, including the removal of walls and false ceilings, Al and Brenda were able to unveil the building's original brick and revive the tin ceiling, transforming Designing Jewelers into the space they had always envisioned.
