Description
We are Brian Danenberg and Kate (Danenberg) Narrow, the third generation running Danenberg Jewelers in Manhattan, Kansas. Our grandfather, Fred Danenberg, opened the store in 1966 at 425 Poyntz Avenue, where it still stands today.
Fred learned jewelry and watchmaking after WWII and eventually managed Gerald’s Jewelry Store in Manhattan. There, he met Laurel Zimmerman, and together they founded Danenberg’s Holiday Jewelers in 1966. Fred focused on crafting, while Laurel built strong customer relationships. They enjoyed success and overcame challenges like all small businesses.
In 1968, Laurel was drafted to Vietnam, so Fred’s son Mike, our dad, joined the business. After Laurel returned in 1970, Mike trained at the Kansas City School of Watchmaking. He stayed in Kansas City until 1985 when Fred retired and passed the business to Mike. The store's name was then shortened to Danenberg Jewelers.
In 1989, Keith Stewart, a Master Bench Jeweler, joined us and became key to our success. In the 1990s, Mike, Laurel, and Keith led the business into a new era. We, Brian and Kate, joined in the early 2000s. Brian trained with Keith, and Kate earned her Graduate Diamonds certification from GIA.
Our business has won several awards, but we are most proud of the “People’s Choice” awards because serving our customers has always been our goal. From Fred and Laurel to Mike and Keith, and now to us, we have focused on building relationships and creating happy, lifelong customers for over five decades.
